Copy and paste no working. VMWare ignoring this.

Hello,

i already posted a related thread but got no help and i can't see why i should pay support for this.

VMWare workstation is not working properly.

Sooner or later VMWS fails to copy and paste accross VMs. Even copy to host and from host to VM fails.

This is an annoying >>> BUG <<< no support case.

Please fix it VM team, thank you.

VMWare Worstation 12 pro, win 8.1 pro 64 bit host, win 10 pro 64 guest, win 7 pro 64 guest.

(VMware Workstation 12 Pro)

OS:Windows10Pro 64bit

CPU:Corei7-6700

ハードディスク容量:1TB(仮想マシンを含め、使用領域は100GB程度)

OS:Windows 7 Professional 64bit

③sched.mem.pshare.enable = "FALSE"     //ページ共有機能の無効化

④prefvmx.useRecommendedLockedMemSize = "TRUE"     //メモリ使用量が変化した時、メモリサイズを固定

⑤MemAllowAutoScaleDown = "FALSE"    //仮想マシンのメモリサイズを自動調節抑止

I am having the same problem. I am trying 8.1 (previously I used 7.1, where this did not occur).

I'm in Unity mode.  I use multiple desktops.  Whenever I switch to any app in a different desktop in which a Unity window is present, the selected app is displayed and then the Unity app pops in front.  Extremely annoying.

Are you using Distributed File System (DFS)?

What agent version are you using?

This looks like the GPO is not set correctly.

Are you able to open support ticket with VMware?

If it is not possible, please attach gpresult data to see if you set GPO correctly.

Re: Fusion's Future

Fusion HAS no future for me. I mean, it might've, but this week I

* foolishly upgraded to 8, only to discover you'd deliberately removed a feature I rely on (split screen support)

* sought and received a refund, which SOUNDS like it went well except...

* ...in upgrading I lost access to my Fusion 7 key, and in requesting the refund I lost my Fusion 8 key.

* Given that I was promised by the support rep on Monday that they'd allow me to activate Fusion 7 with a Fusion 8 key, I'd already removed Fusion 8.

So now it's Thursday, and I still have no access to ANY version of Fusion even though the only refund I got was for the upgrade to 8. It's pretty crappy that you've denied me access to ANY version of your product while you take your sweet time fixing the licensing situation. It's also pretty crappy that, at least twice during this ongoing support situation, I've been outright lied to by your offshore reps, who will clearly promise just about anything to get an irate customer off the phone. (The first was the promise that they'd allow me to reactivate 7 on Monday; I never received a key to do so. The second was today when I was promised a callback resolving the situation before EOB. Obviously, that didn't happen either.)

So, yeah. Not super excited about Fusion or VMWare, so it's "future" for me is very, very murky.

Is anyone else getting this issue when trying to attach to their AD?

Thank you actually!  I didn't realize I missed the adsi piece to do on the connection servers. Finally did that and it fixed it!

Now the only issue I have is Chrome refuses to work with the admin page or HTML client.  Others are having that issue too.

So how come you did not seek employment related to computers much earlier? I mean if you have technical talents now, you had them before you discovered vmware too.  How come you did not get attracted to information technology employment much earlier?

I knew this guy who was working as a shop assistant at a shoe shop, then as a security guard, then as... an MCSE certified system administrator earning absolutely insane money from a big insurance company in the United Kingdom. Never asked him how such a career progression was possible. Maybe you can shed some light.

HW 11 doesn't seem to solve the problem.  I've just completed a brand new Windows 10 VM install on vSphere 6.0U2 (all components, esxi, vcenter, etc).  The VM is on HW v11.  It simply won't customize.  It fails with the error:

Got VMX response 'disconnected'

Status market file c:/Windows/.post-gc-status doesn't exist

The network interface are connected on 1 second

GuestCustUtil existing.

Any ideas? Anyone?

I cleared the exam with about 7-10 days of prep. I had no prior experience with NSX so studying from the ground-up was helpful. This certification give you some direction and structure in preparing for more advanced exams. I am hoping this will help with my VCP prep.

Below are the resources I used:

[1] VMware Network Virtualization Fundamentals eLearning Course

[2] NSX HOL

[3] NSX Network Virtualization Design Guide

ESXi 6.0u2 and Intel X710-DA2 NIC - motherboard nonmaskable interrupt on system reboot with HP ProLiant DL380p Gen8

$

Hi All

We have recently purchased two new HP ProLiant DL380p Gen8 servers and as these come with quad 1Gbe on-board I have also added Intel X710-DA2 NIC on each to benefit from faster speeds to our storage. Genuine Intel 10GBase-SR SFP+ modules have been also installed.

First as there is no i40e driver in ESXi 6.0u2 (3620759) I had to load the drivers in order to make ESXi recognize my cards. I downloaded the latest i40e version 1.4.26 available on VMware website through that link VMware Compatibility Guide - I/O Device Search and installed the vib. As reboot was required I have rebooted the system and after the reboot the adapters were now assigned a vmnic numbers and were available to claim for usage.

Just to make sure I have also downloaded the latest NVM updater from Intel website to verify I am running on the most recent firmware. So I downloaded the updater for firmware version 5.02 from Download NVM Update Utility for Intel® Ethernet Converged Network Adapter XL710 & X710 Series and using the ESX updater verified that both cards are running on the latest firmware (they were already up-to-date).

Eventually I continued on my deployment, but as I needed to reboot one of the hosts I hit a PURPLE screen with the error: "LINT1/NMI (motherboard nonmaskable interrupt), undiagnosed. This may be a hardware problem; please contact your hardware vendor." (check attached file esxi-crash.JPG)

To further-troubleshoot I have verified that I am running on the latest BIOS version on the DL380p Gen8 servers (P70), and I also had the latest iLO4 version (2.30). I have tried also the following:

1) Adjusting the power options for the server to full performance

2) Using different Intel driver for VMware (I tried with all available versions: 1.4.26, 1.3.45, 1.3.38, 1.2.48, 1.2.22, 1.1.1)

Neither one of these helped and each time I would reboot any of the hosts I would hit the same Purple screen with the same error.

Eventually in BIOS I noticed that even-though the X710 NIC is recognized as Ethernet adapter in IRQ settings, in the PCI enable/disable list the NIC is shown as unknown PCI device. (check attached files: dl380p-gen8-01.PNG & dl380p-gen8-02.PNG)

I am also attaching the output of /usr/lib/vmware/vm-support/bin/swfw.sh (attached file output-swfw.txt). In that file is clearly visible that I am running 1.4.26 and my firmware version is 5.02.

It is good mentioning that network traffic is just fine, the only time I get that purple screen is when I reboot either one of the hosts. Also NIC ports are not teamed.

Any ideas or suggestions are highly appreciated!

Best,

KG
